Augusta
Welcome to the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy Augusta satellite campus. This beautiful city has plenty to enjoy whether you are just a visiting golf enthusiast meandering about Augusta National for The Masters or a full-time resident reaping the benefits of the beautiful landscape and riverside locales.
Augusta is home to the Medical College of Georgia, a Health Sciences University founded in 1828 now offering more than 40 academic programs in allied health sciences, nursing, medicine, dentistry and more. The MCG health system includes a 478-bed hospital, a 154-bed children's medical center, and Allied Health Programs. We also partner with area hospitals including University Hospital, VA Hospital, Doctors Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital.
Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy Programs offered in Augusta include:
CET Graduate Program
The Program in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics provides graduate training in therapeutics related research that directly connects the basic science laboratory with the clinical practice setting. As part of UGA's Biomedical Sciences and Health Initiative it aims to enhance interdisciplinary interactions between the faculty of UGA and the Medical College of Georgia.
Pharmacy Practice Residency
MCG Health System in conjunction with the UGA college of Pharmacy provides a 12-month ASHP accredited pharmacy practice residency. This post graduate experience provides comprehensive training in acute care, ambulatory care, drug information, drug-use policy development, practice management and research.
Clerkship Rotation & Clinical Practice Sites
The MCG health science campus serves as the regions primary training site but rotations are available at other pharmacy practice sites in the region offering a variety of advanced practice experiences in hospitals, long-term care, community pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, ambulatory care clinics and others.
The Office of Experience Programs is responsible for the oversight of all early and advanced practice experiences offered through the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy.
Medication Access Program
The mission of the Medication Access Program (MAP) is to increase access to prescription medications for solid organ transplant patients who reside in the State of Georgia. This program is made possible through the generous support of the Carlos and Marguerite Mason Trust Fund. MAP is administered by faculty and staff at the UGA College of Pharmacy.
Disaster Preparedness
Early in 2001, UGA, MCG and the University of Texas developed disaster education programs that began to attract more attention after the events of the fall of 2001. The result was the National Disaster Life Support™ family of courses that deliver all-hazards disaster training to help health care professionals respond to natural and manmade disasters.
